We can guarantee that guests at many of these Sheffield hotels will have seen or at the very least heard about this one from locals. Explore the four main forces of nature: earth, air, fire and water at the UK's 1st science adventure centre set in the Templeborough steelworks just a few outside Sheffield. It's huge, it's intimidating, it's dark and in truth, it's really quite eerie but providing you or your kids don't scare too easily it's fantastic freak of nature.
Set in this cavernous space are 4 pavilions where you can explore the elements, earth, air, fire and water and have fun firing giant water canon, launch rockets, board an airship, spin in a gyroscopic chair. The 'fire' level can be a little unsettling for the under-fives and those same little folks might be a little disturbed by the wonderfully noisy industrial bangs and crashes (courtesy of the Magna sound-system) but everybody of all ages will be delighted with the 'air' level where one can sample the force of a hurricane and tornado through a wind-simulator. Kids will also love the wickedly extended water area (so long as you take a change of clothing!)
You can't avoid the fun, see lightening bolts, fiery tornadoes, explode rock faces and work real JCBs! The original steelworks truly provides a dramatic backdrop for the ultimate interactive experience. There are also 3 very different shows to see.
Adult admission around the £20.00 mark (Nov 2004)
Special Offers have included 1 free child when accompanied by 1 full paying adult.
