Queens Head Inn

Description

Situated in the village of Tirril, offering real Ales, excellent food and a warm welcome is the epitome of an English Country Inn. Dating from 1917 it has a wealth of beams, brasses and memorabilia, as well as four open fireplaces, the largest of which still has in place its original hooks for smoking meats. Formerly known as The Board, the Inn was re-named the Queens Head by its enterprising owner, just in time for Queen Victorias coronation. It was the same man, John Bewsher who bought the pub from the Wordsworths in 1836, after it had been in the family for over 20 years.
