Kemptown, a little east of Brighton city centre, is a flamboyant mix of boutique hotels, charming seafront crescents, elegant squares and cool bohemian cafes like The Kemp Town Bookshop and Ground, recently voted one of the best cafes in Brighton.

There are two official Visitor Information Points: the first at the Toy and Model Museum at the top of Trafalgar Street and the second at the entrance to the Pier. The Urban House in New Stein is excellent value for money and adds a dash of opulence to stays in the Kemptown area. More affordable Brighton accommodation can be found in the Lanes area at the Umi and Premier Inn on North Street.
