The Compasses
Littley Green

Chelmsford Essex and Home Counties CM3 1BU

This perky Victorian Pub is about six miles north of Chelmsford but enjoys easy access to the A131, meaning you can be in the town in under 20 minutes. Country views and all sides.

Braintree is north and Chelmsford is south, and although it might be nested in the tiniest of village settlements the proximity of some major routes like the A131, A120 and the M11 mean it's pretty convenient for getting around.

Great Notley Country park is just up the road and features horse riding, cycling paths, footpaths, a large wooden climbing area and a bistro. Well worth a visit if you have a young family in tow or just like the big outdoors.

The hotel is a smart and comfortable affair with the region's characteristic Regency elements buoyed up by some creative colour-schemes and swanky, modern bathrooms (including luxury toiletries).

Each of the rooms at The Compasses feature an en suite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities and a flat-screen TV. In addition to hearty cooked breakfast you also have the lighter alternatives like Muesli, yogurt and fresh fruit.

The dinner menu also includes the famous ‘Huffer’ filled sandwich, something the locals can't get enough of. Chelmsford is just 17 minutes’ drive away.
