Located just off junction 62 of the A1 on Durham’s eastern spine, the Bannantyne Hotel is a notch or two up on the cheap and cheerful accommodation perfected by the likes of Travelodge. Owned and developed by the Dragon’s Den’s Duncan Bannatyne, this leisure based hotel provides visitors to Durham with a healthier option. Whilst accommodation is still basic attempts have been made to add a more upbeat dimension, the hotel offering complimentary use of the Fitness centre’s swimming pool, spa, steam room and sauna.
