You want have to look far for those sweeping North Somerset levels as the Battleborough Grange Country House Hotel sits neatly at the base of the iconic Brent knoll, and enjoys fab views of its 500ft high summit.
It’s a grand name for what is really a rather bland and functional looking building, but don’t let the look of the property put you off as the interiors are fairly luxurious by comparison. Nestled within acres of private landscaped meadow just to the east of Burnham-on-sea, the hotel is well placed for trips to Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge, Axbridge and Clarks Village. Junction 22 of the M5 is just several hundred yards away too, making it convenient for getting home. There’s a solid range of bedrooms on offer including Single rooms, Country Double or twin, Executive four-poster bedrooms, family rooms and a split level honeymoon suite. There’s also a ground floor bedroom for those with mobility concerns.
The bedrooms are spacious and designed in smart and modern fashion with the occasional Regency flourish. Although the creative input might be somewhat short of boutique standards, there are some lavish and imaginative touches, including luxury ‘Neutrogena’ toiletries, broad leather sofas, high, moulded ceilings and a large conservatory restaurant. The standalone tubs and exposed oak beams in some of the bathrooms are worthy of particular note.
The Battleborough Hotel's 'Grange' function room can seat over a hundred guests or delegates theatre-style, around seventy classroom-style and fifty or so in an open U or square. The Lounge Suite room is offered for smaller meetings of 10 people or less. Both rooms offer a warm and relaxed atmosphere - R4U
