This capable outsider has the benefit of easy access to the M5 motorway and the beach. Big favourite with the kids and hungry, hungry horses.
This ‘Hungry Horse’ managed hotel takes you north-west of the Mendips Hills between Weston-Super-mare and Clevedon. The travel perks are obvious; the M5 is just several hundred yards away, beaches are little more than 10 miles away and the sweeping glacial splendour of the Mendips and Cheddar Gorge can be yours in well under half-an-hour. The hotel enjoys a beautiful countryside location and boasts a surprising 40 guest rooms including twin and double rooms. There are even some interconnecting rooms available for families. All children under 12 years stay free of charge when using existing beds.
It’s a pretty straightforward affair with few bells and whistles where luxuries are concerned. The rooms are reasonably spacious and more than adequate for resting from your adventures at the caves and beaches nearby.
Kids will probably love it as the Bridge Inn New Lodge is home to an all-singing-all-dancing ‘ActionZone’, a 2-level children’s’ play barn that features all manner of ball pools and soft play areas.
The family pub and restaurant serves large, tasty meals and hot breakfasts. Can get a little bit busy and lively at times, but not overly boisterous. Things tend to settle down when the kids fall asleep and the play barn closes – R4U
