Crossways
4 star rating Stocks Lane Southern Mendips

Shepton Mallet Somerset BA4 4EU

With a AA 4-star rating and a newly awarded rosette for culinary excellence the Crossways is a a great place to sleep, eat and be merry. Don’t let the underwhelming exterior put you off as this is a high-achieving yet affordable option.

What a cool location for a bit of multi-tasking in around the Mendips and Somerset levels? The ancient town of Glastonbury is just a few minutes west, Shepton Mallet just a few miles to the East and the Wookey Hole Caves and the hills just 6 miles south. It might have all the architectural charisma of a prefab house in Milton Keynes but there’s passionate and hospitable heart therein. Contrary to expectations the guest rooms are all first-class and are offered at very affordable prices.

The rooms have ample storage facilities, luxurious en-suite bathrooms (including complimentary Pascal Morabito Paris toiletries) plus, flat screen HD televisions and card-controlled in-room utilities. The Avalon Valet Suite is worthy of particular mention as it enjoys stunning views across the Mendips, a four-poster bed, double walk-in shower, his and her wash basins and a built in waterproof HD TV above the bath!

Dining is a similarly lavish experience with resident Head Chef, Nick Cooper dishing up a commendable menu based around only the freshest ingredients and some contemporary takes on classic dishes.
