George and Pilgrim

3 star rating 1 High Street

Glastonbury Somerset BA6 9DP

The George and Pilgrim enjoys a city-centre location just around the corner from Glastonbury Abbey. Classy and richly historical option.

Back in the Middle Ages The George and Pilgrim did a roaring trade in beer and hospitality. In actual fact, it was one of the first purpose-built pubs in England. Today the strength of the beer may be somewhat stronger and the clientele that little bit gentler but there's little doubting that this is one of the most richly historical properties in Glastonbury. You'll find it in a city centre that is just as steeped in history and old folk law. Check out those lovely vintage touches: the panelled stone facade, those terrific mullion windows and all those old oak beams.

All 14 of the guest rooms feature coffee-making facilities and four-poster beds - perfect for that romantic weekend or swift honeymoon stayover. Guests are welcome to enjoy an aperitif or traditional ale in the charming Pilgrim’s bar. The hotel also has a comfortable restaurant with an à la carte menu, offering fresh, succulent homemade food.

The hotel is licensed for Civil Ceremonies, The George & Pilgrim is a popular choice for weddings, holding functions for up to 90 guests and groups are made most welcome. Free on-site parking is also provided.
