House at Woolverton
Rode Hill

Bath Somerset BA2 7QS

This quirky, privately managed property is some 7 miles south of Bath City Centre in Woolverton, a small village set-on the A36. A real rustic curio.

If you find it diffcult to put a finger on what makes the House at Woolverton so unique, you wouldn't be the first. The fantastic, if slightly surreal property is set in several acres of wooded parkland and features scupltures, chairs and ornaments from all over the world. There's bags of creativity here and its a wonderful place for the family.

The decor has clearly inspired by the owners who have lived and travelled as far afield as Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. And it's a vertitable paradise for reclaimed-wood lovers.

The 15 double bedrooms are equally quirky, so expect pegs instead of wardrobes. In the kitchen, French chef Rush Zegaoui puts his mark on the conservatory bistro (with its views across the garden) with dishes that have a Mediterranean touch.

There's a regular bus service running from just outside the house and that will take you to Bath and Frome.
