Kilmartin Hotel

3 star rating A816 Kilmartin Lochgilphead

Argyll Argyll and Bute PA31 8RQ

A simple and unpretentious pub-with-rooms option close to the capital of Argyll & Bute - Lochgilphead. The hotel's location on the A816 makes days out to the Island of Jura from Tarbert an absolute doddle.

The Kilmartin Hotel sits in a practical position just 8 miles from Lochgilphead - generally regarded as the capital of Argyll and Bute. Kilmartin is a small village and home to one of the largest number of prehistoric monuments and 'stone' sites in Scotland. Local attractions include Kilmartin Castle, a small tower house dating back to the 1500s and once the home of Clan Campbell. This is a family-run hotel that enjoys acres of stunning scenery, and several of the rooms offer outstanding panoramas of the glens toward Loch Craignish.

Accommodation is plain but comfortable and four of the six bedrooms have en suite facilities. The bar and restaurant menu is based around fine and wholesome Scottish Food with the chicken and whisky sauce worthy of special mention. The beer garden enjoys uninterrupted views of Kilmartin Glen.

Temple Wood Stone Circles are 'aboot' a 15 minute walk.
