A little gallows humour is likely to go down well at this well presented three-star that also caters for funerals.
It might just be our ghoulish sense of humour but when the Best Western Milford Hotel somewhat dispassionately announces that it ‘also caters for funerals’ we couldn’t help but think that the ‘stiff drinks’ sold at the bar add a peculiarly macabre dimension to the hotel’s pledge of a ‘restful sleep’. That said the teams behind the hotel seldom disappoint. Fresh food, modern wines and a cheerful, supportive service make lodging here a memorable experience. It’s also pretty well located. Leave the A1 at Junction 52 down Great North Road and within five minutes you’ll be here. This makes it practical for visitors to Wakefield as much as Leeds.
The Watermill restaurant is open between 7am and 10pm and the bar is open until midnight – a bonus indeed for anyone organising weddings, bar mitzvahs or you guessed it funerals. All bedrooms are fully air - conditioned and comfortably furnished and ample free parking is available – R4U

The Best Western Milford Hotel is located on the outskirts of Leeds, just off the A1M junction 42. The hotel is based in South Milford village. Steeton Hall Gateway is a nearby listed monument and is protected by English Heritage. Worth a visit.
