Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel

4 star rating Abingdon Road

Oxford Oxfordshire OX1 4PS

A bright and unfussy Quality Street approach adds heaps of variety to a city for all seasons. Just one out of Oxford City Centre.

Reasonable room rates in this often chaotic city centre are notoriously difficult to come by which makes the late deals offered by the Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel a compelling option; their £200 price tags regularly slashed by half. And for a four-star hotel on the rural fringes of the city and with views overlooking Oxford’s writhing Thames River this has to be a bonus. It’s not the most characterful hotel in the area by any means, the 170 en suite bedrooms brought together by a rather plain and functional modern building, redeemed slightly by the occasional shrub and conifer. That said, it does offer some excellent views of the surrounding countryside and convenient access to the Athletics Club and the A34.

Decorated in bright natural colours and adopting an unfussy approach where furniture is concerned, the rooms and suites have a smattering of luxuries including toiletries, four-poster beds, mini bars and balconies whilst the family rooms provide an extra bed and a little bit extra leg room.

A ‘Quality Street’ approach to accommodation means an imponderable variety of rooms are on offer with some lucky souls opting to stay in the Four Pillar’s chic Connoisseur rooms which provide Clarins toiletries, a selection of chocolates and an Ipod docking station. A hotel for all seasons – R4U
