Carlisle Train Station is just across the road for guests without engines but no car park for those arriving with. No frills travel option for visits to Hadrian's Wall.
Travelodge are as handy as they are basic and this budget hotel just five minutes from Carlisle Rail Station is just that. Whilst rarely getting anything above fair-to-average ratings, this hotel near Portland Square offers excellent value for money when booked well in advance. Brunstock Park is little more than a five-minute walk and the rail station just across the road at Botchergate. The rooms are minimal but clean and the hotel features a Café Bar serving light snacks and drinks. The VUE Cinema around the corner from the hotel could also come in handy.
The Travelodge Carlisle is a stopover hotel. It’s not the most glamorous sight in the world, but it’s not offensive either. If you find yourself in Carlisle on business or just need a rest from the long journey North to the Scottish Highlands then its great value for money – R4U
