Witchery By Castle

Situated in a beautiful and historic sixteenth-century building at the very gates of the famous Castle, James Thomson's Edinburgh Witchery must rank as one of the most atmospheric and opulent dining and lodging destinations in the city. Whilst there are only a rather limited number of bedrooms, the seven guest rooms that are on offer are all spacious and boast some truly romantic bathrooms. Originally built for an Edinburgh merchant in 1595, this truly memorable building on the Royal Mile now includes the gem-like Witchery dining room, the spectacular Secret Garden and a collection of thoroughly indulgent suites.

There’s certainly an antique or vintage Edinburgh feel to the Witchery experience that’s balanced in no small part by a lavish quirkiness fun. Those who have passed through its door include Ewan MacGregor, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones, Jack Nicholson and Clarissa Dickson Wright.
