A beautiful Grade II listed Georgian town house with a rich history set in the country Market Town of Harpenden. At the beginning of the 19th Century it was used as a 'School for young ladies' and subsequently it has been a private house and a convent for the Dominican Sisters. Harpenden House Hotel has been operating as a hotel since 1970 and many of the original period features remain, including a large 18th Century fireplace in the Welcombe lounge. The majority of bedrooms are adjacent to the main house in the garden wing.
Set on the edge of the glorious 'garden town' of Harpenden, this Victorian town house hotel boasts its very own award winning gardens. The splendid period feel continues inside with many wonderful features such as the stained glass arched window and the Scottish pine galleried staircase. Easily accessible by train to central London, this will provide the perfect base from which to enjoy the capital. Following a GBP 2.5 million refurbishment in 2007/8, the Harpenden House Hotel now features fully modernised conference and event rooms; the Garden Suite and the Evergreen Room. All of the 76 bedrooms were also refurbished to provide modern, comfortable facilities. In the main house, the individual feature rooms include air conditioning. Dramatic changes took place to the Georgian Restaurant, Welcome Lounge and bar areas, to enhance their original charm and bring both modern comfort and character. The majority of rooms and meeting rooms are adjacent to the main house in the Garden Courtyard and Hertfordshire wing.
