Who
could fail to be astonished by the sheer, breathtaking wonder of England’s Lake
District? The Lake District National Park is one of twelve National parks
in the United Kingdom. Lying entirely within the wild, craggy, open landscape
of Cumbria, the Lake District is One of England’s few mountainous regions. All
the land in England higher than three thousand feet above sea level lies within
the Park. Grasmere, Ambleside,
Windermere and Keswick
were all made famous during the early 19th century by the poetry and writings
of William Wordsworth and the Lake Poets. The park is popular with painters, photographers,
climbers and ramblers.
