Visitors to Sheffield often remark on the friendliness of the people, the generous smattering of parks and gardens and of course, the hills. Like Rome local folklore suggests the city was built on seven hills, and the areas around Woodseats and Crookes certainly certainly support that claim. Even the walk up to the centre from the Train Station in Sheaf Square can be arduous for some, so if you wish to avoid undue stress you may want to consider hotels close to Pond Street like Novotel, which is just up from Pond Street or the bed and breakfast deals on offer at the Jurys Inn just off the Moor.

The Sleep Hotel is a no-frills option in the more lively clubbing and ‘quaffing’ quarter. It may have a fairly awkward location in the West Bar area of the city but it is certainly an affordable option for those looking to rest up after a night on the razzle down Sheffield Arches. It is also not short of travel links. This modest hotel in Sheffield has a stylish modern bent and the self-check-in option during business hours can make arrival a smooth and no-fuss affair.

Sheffield is not short of the odd park or two, that’s for sure. Broomhill and Hunters Bar are home to two sprawling green belts alone: the exotic and eclectic Botanical Gardens and the child-friendly Endcliffe Park, with its cheery assortment of bouncy castles, cafes and duck ponds. A little farther a field you have the basin-like majesty of Sheffield’s Crookes Valley Park and then of course Western Park, famous as much for its bandstand and its ice-cream smothered toddlers as its art gallery and museum. For those travelling by national transport, rail and bus links can be found at Sheffield Pond Street. If no rooms are available on the dates you wish to travel, a list of neighbouring hotels and cheap b&b options will be displayed.
