Cairngorm Ski Centre is worth a visit whatever the weather, although preferably when it’s snowing. Currently enjoying three of the best skiing seasons in living memory, Cairn Gorm is fast turning into one of the most popular ski and snowboarding centres in Britain. Ten miles east of Aviemore’s fab hotels and restaurants and sitting about 1300 metres.

Whilst there’s a clearly an added wow factor to visit this Aviemore attraction around Christmas Time, there’s still no shortage of magic to be experienced whatever the season and we actually split the visit into two halves, visiting the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd and Centre just before Christmas.

To be honest, you could dispense with any or all of the arduous sporting activities on offer and just settle for ambling along the generous beaches and amongst the encroaching fauna of the Loch itself. Loch Morlich (and the Watersports centre) is situated just a few miles up from Aviemore and at the foot of the magnificent Cairngorm, bang in the heart of the National Park.
