If walls could tell a story, what an astonishing tale the walls at the Castle Hotel near Kirby Muxloe could tell. Grand historical stay just three miles outside Leicester City Centre.
The hotel dates back to the 1600s when it witnessed the Parliamentary roundhead soldiers were stationed at nearby castle in Kirby Muxloe. There are even locals who allege that the original farmhouse fed and watered them in no less generous a fashion. There's lots of historical charm here. The beautiful red-brick building is clad in luscious ivy and roaring open fires add heaps of period character to candlelit winter dining. The food is first-class with classic pub food cooked with care. Whether it's hand-battered cod & chips, the gourmet burger, or the ever-popular ‘Brewer's Chicken’, the chef and his team add no shortage of flair to traditional British favourites.
