The Holiday Inn is likely to be one those hotels you either love or hate. Lacking the character of smaller boutique affairs or the imagination of luxury chains like Malmaison, this fairly functional but perfectly adequate option offers a solid routine of transfers to the airport on the legendary Hoppa Bus as well as a comprehensive range of restaurants including the Rotisserie, the Sampans Oriental and Callaghans Irish Bar. Snacks and light meals can also be ordered from the Lobby Lounge. Familes waiting for flights can take advantage of a children playroom and the hotel is easily accessible from the M4/M25 motorways.

It's not difficult to see the pluses for business users. The West Drayton location is handy indeed for the M/A40, the M25 and M1. The hotel is also just a mile or so from Stockley Business Park - a joint venture between Kajima, PRUPIM and Aldersgate. The Park has some first-class amenities including bars, restaurants and wine-bars at the club Arena. There's a Virgin Active Health Club, an 18-hole golf course, as well as your more run-of-the-mill WH Smiths. The on-site Busy Bee Nurseries also offer childcare.

For pre or post-flight leisure a we'd recommend the nearby Bedfont Lakes, a water-focused nature reserve with over 180 acres of rolling parkland. The park regularly features top amongst local attractions in the 'Hounslow Matters' magazine and is well worth a visit if you have children in tow.

The dedicated onsite Academy Conference Centre can accommodate between 10-150 delegates and there is a private and bespoke reception desk for check-in for your delegates. With a 24-hour gym and generous air-conditioning, you'd have to be a fool not consider it as a serious mid-range option, M4 location or not - R4U
