From the Open-Style kitchen, to the Larouche wine-tasting room and the mysterious labyrinth cellar bar the property is a veritable trove of treasures.
The Hotel du Vin is literally immersed in Cambridge’s rich historical and academic heritage. Trumpington, the village in which it sits, is a city within a city kind of thing and can even be found as the setting for Chaucer’s ‘Reeve’s Tale’.
The Old Addenbrooke Site is to the rear, the faculty of Architecture to the south and Queen’s College to the north. There’s also a beautiful grassland area directly outside the hotel featuring an old mill and punt hire for idling around on the river.
It’s really difficult to fault this gorgeous university-owned property. It’s not budget by any standards, but the late deals on offer regularly see the price the £300+ room rates slashed by as much as half.
