If you are working to a tight budget and even even tighter schedule, spare a thought for the Ibis. York Central Train Station is within walking distance and it's one of the closest hotel to the Racecourse.
The hotel is close to all York’s major tourist attractions, bars, clubs and restaurants. This is a budget hotel with a difference; whilst terrific value for money it doesn’t skimp in terms of quality services. The breakfast, offered daily, is an 'all-you-can-eat buffet' served between 6.30 and 10 am and comprises all the classic elements of a traditional continental breakfast. There is also a licensed bar open 24/7 for soft drinks and from 12 midday until 12 midnight for that something a little stronger.
The Ibis York is the closest ‘famous name’ hotel to the Racecourse. It’s probably also the cheapest.

The Ibis is within waking distance of the National Railway Museum. The Central Station is just a 15 minute walk. Head up the road through Micklegate and across the bridge for the Jorvik Viking Centre.
