“Stunning in every respect, the mighty Edwardian architecture and lavish furnishing are supported by an impressive range of modern conveniences”.
The Marriott County Hall enjoys a beautiful position near Waterloo Station on London’s famous South Bank. This effortlessly lavish 5-star might not offer the cheapest accommodation in the South Bank area but Room4U has included it because there are some really great late deals to be grabbed online. The building itself, designed by Ralph Knott, was opened in the early 1920s by George V and was originally a government building. Standing next to Jubilee Gardens and Westminster Bridge the hotel is convenient for trips to the Houses of Parliament, 10 Downing Street and Big Ben, as well as shows at the nearby Imax Cinema.
The hotel enjoys breathtaking views across the Thames with many of London’s most iconic images visible from the bedrooms and the hotel’s sophisticated rotunda lounge. The mighty Edwardian architecture and lavish furnishing are supported by an impressive range of modern conveniences including air-conditioned bedrooms, high-speed internet, voicemail as well as tasty little extras like Egyptian cotton-rich linens, luxury down duvets and pillows. The County Hall Restaurant is just one of several dining options whilst champagne, fine wines and after-dinner drinks are available from the County Hall’s ‘Leaders Bar’ where dress code is casual.
The County Hall might not be Waterloo and the South Banks’ most affordable property – and may be something of an extravagance to use as a simple base – but if travel commitments keep you tied to the Waterloo area and you expect only the best – then there is certainly no close rival – R4U
