Masons Arms

3 star rating 6 Fishergate

York North Yorkshire YO10 4AB

Whilst many properties in York often lay claim to the city’s rich cultural heritage, few can actually boast fixtures and decorations borrowed directly from it.

Although built in the evident Tudor style by a local brewery there are several genuine historical relics gracing the Mason Arms gorgeous interiors. There is oak panelling from York Castle and a fireplace from the Castle Gatehouse, a fitting tribute to the fine position the hotel occupies looking over the city walls where a glimpse of York’s exciting Medieval past is possible in very stone that supports it. The privately operated and very traditional English pub is popular with locals and tourists alike, due in part to its fine foods and hand-pulled local Ales.

The hotel has four double en-suite rooms in a quiet annexe to the rear of the building – all well furnished and tastefully decorated. There is free parking available adjacent to the rooms. The restaurant has a well-deserved reputation for serving excellent value, freshly cooked meals. The portions are also generous.
