Wake up to a hearty buffet breakfast and the whiff of a Costa Coffee rising up from the lounge below. A capable budget brand on the A50 near Leicester.
Although its selling point is ostensibly its proximity to the busy Meridian Business Park and M1, the Premier Inn Leicester Central is a natural enough choice for guests looking for value for money hotel accommodation. Situated on the A50 and just 2 miles from the city centre the hotel offers 76 good-sized en-suite bedrooms with many of the modern creature comforts we have come to expect of the chain plus some pleasant surprises, not least of which are the crisp white sheets, immaculate bathrooms and the implausibly cheerful staff.
All hotel stays should be painless experiences, but Premier seem to have invested a little more than most in turning out friendly and helpful staff who contrary to fashion seem to respect rather resent your custom. Of course the flat-screen TVs and imaginative Premier Breakfasts are welcome too.
In addition to the traditional Full English fare, guests at the Premier Inn can look forward to is a choice of organic yoghurts, dried fruit and fresh fruit salad toppings, freshly baked croissants, light and fluffy crumpets, fresh fruit salads, with a refreshing mix of red and green sliced apples, mixed berry compôte, delicious muffins and Costa Coffee – R4U

The city’s sprawling Gilroes Cemetery is next door to the hotel, perhaps an indication of just how soundly many of its neighbours sleep
