Queen Charlottes Orangery
4 star rating 93a Sydney Place Avon Valley, Southern Cotswolds

Bath Somerset West Country BA2 6NE

If you want to be treated like Royalty then what better hotel to stay in? Lavish five-star with heaps of Georgian elegance. Highly recommended for fans of Austen.

This handsome Georgian townhouse sits at the historic heart of the city centre and is a truly luxurious option. The area around Pultney and Bathwick is one of the most visibly historic districts. This charming and deeply attractive ward sits on the Eastern banks of the Avon, just across Pultney Bridge.

Sydney Place, Great Pulteney Street and Laura Place are all perfectly preserved Georgian streets and the ward is also home to the Holburne Museum of Art at Sydney Gardens. Queen Charlotte's Orangery was the 1817 home of Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George 3rd . It's literally dripping in history, with wonderful rooms around an Italianate courtyard garden.

Fans of Jane Austen will be tickled-pink to learn that the Austen family lived in Sydney Place for three years, only leaving for Winters at the seaside.
