The hotel is actually some 15 miles east of Sherborne in a village called Child Okeford – home of composer Sir John Tavener.
Although the Saxon Inn dates back to the early 1700s, it has been lovingly restored and extended over the years and offers visitors to Dorset a warm rustic atmosphere and solid traditional values. The four en suite bedrooms are simple affairs but full of character with reclaimed wood furnishings, flat-screen TVs and wi-fi. The bar and dining areas boast period oak beams, log fires and a warm, inviting ambience. There are several Real Ales available and a regularly updated specials menu – R4U
