Speybank B&B

Leslie Terrace

Aberlour Moray AB38 9SY

This elevated Victorian property in Craigellachie boasts some spectacular views of Speyside. The home-cooking is first-class and the rooms smart and comfortable. Aberlour is just a mile a way.

Whether you are in Craigeallchie for the Speyside Whisky Festival, the Aberlour/Dufftown Games, or whether you are just one of the thousands of salmon fly-fishers each year who come to cast the fast, moving River Spey, you can be certain of a firm Scottish welcome at Spey Bank. This small but comfortable bed and breakfast enjoys an elevated position above the village and has become something of an established base for ramblers, sightseers and those following the Whisky Trail.

There are a staggering amount of distilleries in the area including the mighty Glendiffich (just 4 four miles away in Dufftown), Aberlour (in Aberlour!), Cardhu (at Cardow in Upper Knockando) and Glen Grant in nearby Rothes (just a few miles up the road on the way to Elgin). Aberlour can be accessed in just 5-minutes on the A941 or in 25 minutes on foot using the scenic Speyside Way.

There's a fine Scottish breakfast on offer featuring everything from Scottish Porridge Oats (with cream and honey) to cooked Scottish breakfasts using fresh and local produce. The enthusiastic cook does a splendid 'Speybank Eggs' (oven baked free range eggs served with toast fingers and bubbling Scottish Cheddar). The double rooms and the twin room enjoy a rich, rustic character with natural woods and finishings.

The rooms are clean, the bed lined crisp and neat and the overall service excellent. Call the Speybank on +44 (0) 1340 871888 for more details
