This is an affordable alternative to all those properties we've seen in the Clifton and Bootham area. This handsome ivy-clad townhouse dates back to the 1800s and enjoys a degree of privacy and seclusion courtesy of some sprwaling, lofty birch trees and shrubs. Here in the Holgate area of York you'll find yourself just a mile or so south of the city centre and the Minster (about a 20 minute stroll up the Mount and the bridge over the River Ouse). York racecourse is even closer. Just a 14 minute walk down Knavesmire Road.

It’s another solid performer where accommodation is concerned, the guest house benefitting from smart and modern furnishings and some imaginative use of colours (although personally I’d ditch the white formica headboards in the ‘purple room’).

Each of the rooms come equipped with free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, free tea and coffee making facilities and a full English breakfast is served every morning.
