Good-looking gardens and striking patio area provide a gentle rustic setting for this elegant bespoke hotel close to Alton Towers. The 50 bedrooms on offer are a traditional yet stylish affair and retain something of the romance of the Georgian and Victorian periods to which they clearly pay homage. The reception hall is a spectacular affair with a dramatic wooden staircase and hand-carved lattice door arches. For extra indulgence guests can look forward to relaxing in the heated indoor swimming pool or thrashing out their stresses in the gym.

The Garden Restaurant with its views over the grounds offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and is complimented by an extensive wine-list. The dining experience is a traditional manor house affair, and could come straight out of Jane Austen novel; not formal exactly, more ‘courteous’.
