What it lacks in imagination it more than makes up for in performance. The staff are friendly, the service prompt and the rooms are terrifically well maintained. It's not going to please everybody of course. Those looking for something as slick and progressive as a Hilton Suite may be disappointed by the solid yet functional look of some of the bedrooms. There may be no walk-in showers or free-standing roll-top baths but they brightly decorated and furnished with clean modern fixtures and fittings.

The bedrooms cover three-floors and come with private bathrooms en-suite or with bath, tea-making facilities and remote-controlled colour televisions. Every guest room also has central heating and double-glazing.

Breakfast is hearty affair with an option of 5 cereals, toast with jam and marmalade, as well as full-English breakfasts. The owners also offer three-course Roast Dinners plus tea/coffee plus main choices, salads and vegetarian or fish dish.

The Kensington Hotels is within 15 minutes walk of Blackpool Pleasure and the Tower. Many rooms have sea views.
