Radisson Blu
4 star rating Unit C1 The Light, The Headrow

Leeds West Yorkshire LS1 8TL

The Radisson Blu is a timely reminder that judging a book by its cover is not always going to yield disappointment.

This grand looking hotel is housed in a Grade II listed building that was originally the headquarters of the city's Permanent Building Society – commonly known as The Leeds. The Art Deco style is reflected in the architecture of the original Banking Hall, which has been meticulously and sensitively modernized. Restored in 2002, this award-winning hotel has become one of the most distinguished hotels in the area. Forming an integral part of The Light, a shopping and leisure complex means old bluey is close to a rich variety of cafe bars and exclusive restaurants as well as world-renowned retailers such as Harvey Nichols, Vivienne Westwood and Hugo Boss.

The 147 guest bedrooms have all have been designed in Italian and Art Deco traditions and some have hi-tech style themes. Design-wise the hotel is a delightful contradiction or an anachronism of sorts, a innovative blend of the old and the new: part 1930s New York, part Italian Rationalism with just a touch of romance and magic thrown in for good measure.

The Lounge Restaurant and Bar is popular with all Radisson Blu visitors and locals and boasts an eclectic wine and cocktail list sure to please any connoisseur – R4U
