Travelodge (St Nicholas) Scarborough

3 star rating St Nicholas Cliff

Scarborough North Yorkshire YO11 2EU

Handy indeed for the likes of the Futurist Theatre, Sea Life Centre and the reassuring Victoriana of the Scarborough Spa.

The Travelodge St Nicholas is very handy indeed for the likes of the Futurist Theatre, Sea Life Centre and the reassuring Victoriana of the Scarborough Spa with its resident summer orchestra and sprawling sea-front tearooms. The Train Station is also just a few minutes walk away too. Stunning sea-views are not traditionally characteristic of this popular no-frills chain, but some of the views from the bedrooms here are genuinely breathtaking. Not bad for any seaside hotel but something rather special for a budget hotel.

The St Nicholas also boasts a bar – another unusual but not unknown break with Travelodge tradition. The rooms are clean, comfortable and refreshingly minimal.

They also have free wi-fi. Plan this break correctly and you could have the best of both worlds, as there’s nothing stopping you enjoying an Aperitif at the posh ‘Grand Hotel’ opposite and dining at the harbour’s Golden Grind Restaurant.

If a room for the night is all you need, why pay for more? Plough your well-earned cash into the resort's lavish entertainments rather than on all those inessential perks of more upmarket accommodation – R4U
