With an old-fashioned attitude to hospitality and some of the finest rooms in Worcester, the White Lion Hotel exceeds all expecations. The property enjoys a Riverside location in Upton Upon Severn just 8 miles from the city.
Most hotels with the name ‘The White Lion’ don’t do much to inspire confidence. They’re usually a fairly grotty, ‘make-do’ affair with noisy pub regulars and an attitude to luxury that would the average thrift store look extravagant. The experience here couldn’t be more different. The hotel offers exceptional accommodation in exceptional surroundings. It also comes highly recommended by the savvy Condé Nast Johansens team, who maintain some of the best boutique and spa hotels across the world.
The 13 guest rooms are all inspired creations featuring beautiful period furnishings and heaps of historical magic. Two of the rooms have even earned a place in the annals of British Literature. The Rose Room and The Wild Goose Room were both mentioned in Henry Fielding’s 17th Century novel, ‘The History Of Tom Jones’, in which he describes the hotel as the ‘fairest inn on the street and a house of exceedingly good repute’.
Encouragingly, the White Lion Hotel has maintained those same standards and has since won numerous awards for its mouth watering food and service . Check out the AA, RAC, English Tourist Board websites for reviews – R4U
